Why has my messaging experience changed?
You recently accepted an upgrade from text or photo messaging to a new messaging protocol or standard called Rich Communications Services (RCS) or Chat features within the Messages app.
This unlocks messaging features like texting over WiFi, read receipts, seeing when the other person is typing and better group texting features.
What happens if I send a message to a device that doesn’t support Chat?
When a message is sent to a device that doesnt support Chat features, the message will be sent as a standard text or photo message.
What can I do with Chat?
If Chat features within Messages are turned on, you can:
send messages using WiFi/mobile data
start group conversations
send high-quality photos and videos
see when others are typing
let others know youve read their messages
